Direct and Indirect Mcqs

In, direct speech the saying of the person is reported in its own words without any change. For example, Alisha said, “I’m very hungry”. But in the indirect speech, the saying of the person is conveyed in our own words. For example, Alisha said that she was very hungry.  There are few rules for converting direct speech into indirect speech.
1-Omit all the inverted commas and quotation marks and use a full stop at the end of sentences.
2- Before the indirect sentence, the conjunction ‘that’ is used.
3- If the reporting speech is in past tense all the present tenses will be changed into past tense.
4- If the words in inverted commas tell about universal truth, then the tense of the reported speech didn’t change.
5- If the reporting speech is in present or future tense then the tense of the reported speech didn’t change.
