With a population of more than 45 million, Sindh, the ancient home of the Sindhi people, is the second most populous administrative region in Pakistan after Punjab. Due to its role in the first spread of Islam throughout South Asia, Sindh is referred to as Bab-ul-Islam or the gateway to Islam. Its origins can be traced to the Indus Valley Civilization, which was centered in Sindh and is among the oldest civilizations in the world.
