Humans began appearing on earth 5-7 million years ago, but most of that history was Neanderthals, who while speaking some languages did not have an organized vocabulary. This was a big factor for modern humans taking over when they appeared 200,000 years ago and Neanderthals going extinct. The first language ever recorded was Sumerian, which was popular in what today is Iraq. It lost relevance in 1800 BC.
