The McMartin Family in 1983 was hit with hundreds of allegations of abusing kids at the daycare they operated. Things got bizarre when it was found they were performing satanic rituals on kids. Ultimately the trial went from 1987 to 1990, becoming a record and also cost taxpayers 15 million. In the end, Peggy McMartin didn’t go to jail and teacher Ray Buckey only got 5 years.
