HEC Notifies Universities to Conduct Online Classes in Selected Areas: Higher education commission of Pakistan (HEC) dispensed a notification and informed universities. To take 2 weeks classes online in some of the selected areas. Before this Shafqat Mehmood, the federal minister for education announced and delivers the decision to close educational institutes because of the third wave of COVID-19. Furthermore, it is stated that; due to the rise in the corona case in the third wave all the Public and private universities; will be closed from 15 March 2021 to 28 March 2021. The reopening of all educational institutes will be under review by the NCOC (National Command and Operation Center) committee later. So students must take online classes and complete their syllabus before the commencement of exams.
Academic Activities and COVID-19
It was also explained by Higher Education Commission; that students can take online classes until the closure of universities and other educational institutes over. Moreover, the ongoing exams and already scheduled exams and tests will be as per schedule by; the respective universities and colleges. It has been also conveyed to all universities; that the higher education commission will take exams with the implementation of all strict coronavirus SOPs. HEC gave strict instructions to all universities that they must follow and implement strict policies against the spread of COVID-19. Closure of Schools and Students’ Career
In the Previous meeting of the national command and operation center (NCOC) in which it had been stated that there is a nonstop rise in COVID-19 cases. Because of this, the government decided to close the schools again for a minimum of two weeks all over Punjab. The next meeting of NCOC will be in the first week of April for further action and decisions. However deceptively the situation of COVID-19 in Baluchistan and Sindh is under control. So in this situation, 50% strength of each class can take classes on alternative days with strict implementations of SOP. Moreover due to the increase of corona cases in Peshawar the schools in the city will remain closed until 28 March 2021.
