Accountant General Punjab Lahore is the premier department that deals with the pension of the employees of the Government of Punjab. Apart from the autonomous department, Accountant General Punjab deals with the pension of the majority of the departments of Punjab.
To be eligible for the pension it is necessary for a government servant to fulfill the requirements of the start of pension, such as to qualify for the service required for the pension or in many other cases fulfill the necessary conditions for the start of the pension. As in medical cases, 10 years of service is required to start the pension.
Administrative Department Order
The administrative department of the employee or parent department issues the retirement order and forwards the complete case of an employee to Accountant General Punjab for the start of pension. In case an employee is retired from any district in Punjab the administrative department sends the case of pension to the District Accounts Office which is separately established for each district of Punjab.
So, after the process and looking into the documents the Accountant General/District Accounts Office issues the Pension Payment Order (PPO) and starts the monthly pension of employees.
Payment of Pension Amount
In the past, the pension amount was paid through the pension book and in the banks. The pensioners had to wait for hours and to stand in queues. But now the AG Punjab Office has resolved the issues of the pensioners.
Now for the past few years, the Accountant General Lahore has started the Direct Credit System (DCS). Through this system, the monthly pension amount is directly credited to the pension account of the pensioner. In this way, the pensioner through a cheque or ATM card can easily withdraw his amount of pension. So, in this regard, the step of the AG Office is remarkable to facilitate the pensioners.
