Brief facts about FATA Merger and 25th Amendment:
The Twenty-fifth Amendment of the Constitution of Pakistan, officially known as the Constitution Twenty-fifth Amendment, was passed by the Parliament of Pakistan and the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly in May 2018. Under the amendment, the Federally Administered Tribal Areas (FATA) and Provincially Administered Tribal Areas (PATA) are to be merged with the province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. Moreover, the Twenty-sixth Amendment of the constitution of Pakistan entered the fray on May 13, 2019, which declares the following “The seats of tribal districts in the National Assembly of Pakistan will be retained at 12 while their seats in the Khyber Pakhtunkhwa Assembly have been increased to 24 from 16.
